"Laughing Gas" Anesthesia
Patients who deal with severe anxiety around the dentist can relax with Dr. Abreu. He offers both anesthesia and laughing gas (called so because of its tendency to cause the patient to have laughing fits). This type of inhalation sedation allows you to relax and improves your sense of well being during the procedure and is a good alternative to traditional anesthesia.
What Is It? And What Does It Do?
Inhalation sedation works by allowing you to breath in a colorless, odorless gas called nitrous oxide. Under its effects, you will not feel pain but will feel happy and calm.
While you may experience some hallucinations and lightheadedness, one of the most common side effects is the laughing that has given it its nickname.
